Likert Scale

Definition

An ordinal scale commonly used in surveys to measure subjective responses and attitudes. The scale can be numeric or descriptive, but analysis is done by assigning ordered numeric values to the possible responses.

Examples

A typical survey question measuring responses on a Likert scale might ask:

How satisfied are you with the customer service provided?

Extremely Dissatisfied = 1
Somewhat Dissatisfied = 2
Neither Satisfied Nor Dissatisfied = 3
Somewhat Satisfied = 4
Extremely Satisfied = 5
