Definition
A person who leads teams in executing Six Sigma projects on a full-time basis. Black Belt training can be obtained from a variety of sources, but is typically between 140 and 160 hours in duration and includes instruction in use of statistical data analysis and designed experiments. Variations of the Black Belt designation include Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, DFSS Black Belt, and DMAIC Black Belt. Black Belt Certification is offered by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and numerous consulting firms and companies deploying Six Sigma.
